Early Life & Background
S M Jahangir Hossain was born on January 1, 1973, in the village of North Charkumaria, Sakhipur Upazila, Shariatpur District. Growing up in a humble family, he learned the values of hard work, integrity, and service to others from an early age. His father, Late A K M Nuruzzaman, and mother, Late Khayrun Nessa, instilled in him a deep sense of duty towards society and the nation.
Education & Early Years
He completed his Secondary School Certificate (SSC) from BG Press School in 1987, followed by Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) from Tejgaon College in 1989. He went on to earn his Bachelor's degree from the same institution in 1991. During his college years, he became deeply involved in student politics, recognizing it as a platform to voice the concerns of the common people.
Political Awakening
The political landscape of Bangladesh in the late 1980s shaped young Jahangir's worldview. Witnessing the struggle for democracy and the sacrifices made by political leaders inspired him to join the nationalist movement. In 1990, he formally began his political career as Member Secretary of Tejgaon College Chhatra Dal, marking the beginning of a lifelong commitment to democratic values.
